Effective April 1,2009, the state sales and use tax increases by 1%. In addition, if you are in a city or county that has voter approved local district tax rate increase effective on April 1, 2009, your overall tax rate increase will be higher. The 1% tax rate increase will expire on July 1, 2011, or July 1, 2012, if the voters approve the proposed Budget Stabilization constitutional amendment in a statewide election to be held on May 19, 2009.

Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment purchased or financed during the tax year. That means that if you buy (or lease) a piece of qualifying equipment, you can deduct the FULL PURCHASE PRICE from your gross income.
